SFD Squad 13 Placed Into Service

The Sevierville Fire Department recently placed a new truck into service. Squad 13’s primary role is responding to emergency medical calls in the Station 1 coverage area.

The new vehicle is staffed by two medically-trained firefighters with Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or higher certification. Squad 13 is also equipped with vehicle extrication equipment for vehicle crash response as well as a small pressurized firefighting system for extinguishing small brush fires.

“Squad 13 provides a quicker and much more cost effective response to medical emergencies,” Fire Chief Matt Henderson said. “The initial cost is almost 75% less than a new front line engine and will save wear and tear on our fire engines.”
